Greetings from Grounds!

Jubilate has had a busy first semester, and we still have so much to do! We were very successful in our recruiting efforts and our number now stands at 47. The spirit of our group this year is exciting, and the more experienced members warmly welcomed the new ones. It is gratifying to see the strong camaraderie developing in the group.

The theme for our Variety Show this year was "Disney," which only seemed natural since our tour in the spring is to Orlando. All the acts were well prepared and well done, but as usual the Basses stole the show. However, the Alto's act (entitled "The Little Tenor Who Could") rivaled the Basses for surprise!

Our Lessons and Carols services are Sunday, December 3 at UBC (6:00 pm) and Monday,

December 4 in the chapel on grounds (7:00 pm) - we'd love to have any of you come celebrate the season with us!

Our Winter Retreat is Friday, January 19 through Sunday, January 21. Please let Cindy Jarmul or me know if you can come help with that. It is a great treat for the current members to meet alumni and hear their "tales of Jubilate!"

There are many things you can do for Jubilate, but none more important than prayer! We are stressed to the max most of the time, and your prayers for our sanity, our ability to learn and enjoy our music, and for our fellowship will avail much!

Thank you for your legacy that gives us direction and purpose!

A Word From Our Founder...
Dear Jubilate Alums,

Thanksgiving has come and gone. Cathy and I have so much to be thankful for and, among our blessings are the ways in which many of you have touched our lives and left an indelible imprint on us.

Musical excellence, ministry to others and community without equal are among the wonderful things that Jubilate has offered us all. I am deeply grateful that I was given the opportunity to be a part of something so rich and important.

We celebrate the launch of the new Jubilate Alumni Association and all that we can do together to make this ongoing ministry more permanent and impactful. Thanks to all of those who worked so tirelessly to bring it into being.

University Baptist Church has provided the necessary support to sustain Jubilate through all of these years and, now that we are “maturing”, it is our turn to give something back as well. Together, our impact can be substantial!

The fundraising efforts of the Alumni Association are of vital importance to Jubilate’s present and future. Cathy and I plan to make our gift before the end of this year and we hope you will join us in generously supporting Jubilate for all it has done for each of us and for all it continues to do in the lives of others.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at our next reunion. Have a very merry Christmas and the very best of New Years!

News
Hello Jubilate Alumni!

Thanks to the Activities Fair in August and personal recruitment, Jubilate has 23 new singers this semester, bringing the choir total to 47 members! Our Variety Show last month was lots of fun with its Disney theme (to celebrate the spring tour 2007 to Orlando, FL) and also a very successful fundraiser. Harvest Ball was on November 11, and we are very excited to sing for the first time at the Lighting of the Lawn on November 30. Nominations for new
Steering Committee members started the beginning of November, and the choir will vote after returning from Thanksgiving Break.

Jubilate is also working hard on songs for our Lessons & Carols concert next month. We are performing at University Baptist Church on Sunday, December 2nd, at 6:00pm and at the UVA Chapel the following Monday (December 3rd), at 7:00pm. We hope to see lots of you there and wish you all a wonderful holiday season!
